About Dr. Jessica Haskins

I am a licensed psychologist with a Master's and Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the APA-accredited university Argosy University-San Francisco/Bay Area. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a Biology emphasis from the University of California, Davis. I have 15+ years of clinical experience working with individual adults, families, couples, adolescents, and children. In those years, I have worked in a variety of settings which include a hospital and short-term/long-term adult mental health residential facilities. A private practice clinic with children and teens in foster care, and a variety of outpatient community mental health clinics with children, teens, and adults who experienced significant mental health concerns. I served as the Clinical Director for a short-term crisis residential facility and clinically supervised practicum and doctoral level students.
My private practice includes a variety of clients who struggle with:
-
anxiety
-
mood disorders
-
adjustment disorders
-
grief and loss
-
neurodivergence
-
a wide variety of other mental health conditions/concerns
In addition to my private practice, I spent 12 years working at a local Level 1 Trauma Center. In that position I provided individual and couple's psychotherapy to the hospital employees and their family members. I also supervised pre-doctoral and post-doctoral level students as part of a CAPIC approved training program. I taught trainings on various mental health topics and facilitated departmental workshops such as team building, stress management, communication in the workplace, work-life integration, physician resiliency, staff as the second victim, and coping with medical errors. I have also engaged in committee work around supporting the mental health of medical professionals and served as the co-investigator for the Interactive Screening Program for UCDH residents, fellows, and physicians at risk for stress, depression, and suicide. My work has included research publications around this project.
I am a lifelong learner and engage in a variety of continuing education courses to further my skill set. I completed a year-long specialty training course, The Developmental Model of Couple's Therapy, under Ellyn Bader PhD at the Couple's Institute. I am trained in EMDR, an evidenced-based treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. I also participate in a psychodynamic case consultation seminar to continue to support my ongoing clinical work. I am a member of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Sciences (ACBS), Sacramento Valley Psychological Association (SVPA), California Psychological Association (CPA), and the American Psychological Association (APA).
In my spare time I enjoy volunteering in local schools, spending time with my family and pets, reading fiction, and watching scary movies.
