About Dr. Jessica Haskins

I am a licensed psychologist with a Master's and Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. I have 20 years of clinical experience working with adults, families, couples, adolescents, and children. Throughout my career, I have practiced in a variety of settings, including hospitals; short- and long-term adult mental health residential facilities; a private practice clinic serving children and teens in foster care; and multiple outpatient community mental health clinics serving children, adolescents, and adults with significant mental health conditions. I have also served as the Clinical Director for a short-term crisis residential facility and have provided clinical supervision to practicum and doctoral level students.
My private practice serves a diverse range of clients who experience challenges related to the following:
-
mood disorders
-
trauma
-
grief and loss
-
neurodivergence
-
anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders
-
a wide range of other mental health conditions
In addition to my private practice, for over a decade I worked at a local Level 1 Trauma Center. In this role, I provided individual and couples psychotherapy
to the hospital employees and their family members. I also supervised pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students as part of a CAPIC approved training program. Additionally, I delivered trainings on a range of mental health topics and facilitated departmental workshops on team building, stress management, communication in the workplace, work-life integration, physician resiliency, staff as the second victim, and coping with medical errors. I participated in committee work focused on supporting the mental health of medical professionals and served as a co-investigator for a research program dedicated to physician mental health. This work resulted in research publications related to the program.
I am a lifelong learner who regularly engages in continuing education to further refine my clinical skill set. I completed a year-long specialty training course in The Developmental Model of Couple's Therapy under the guidance of Ellyn Bader, PhD, at the Couple's Institute. I am trained in EMDR, an evidenced-based treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. Beyond these formal trainings, I have completed a wide range of additional comprehensive professional trainings, which you can view here: Trainings. I also have 150+ hours of psychodynamic training through ongoing monthly seminars and biweekly consultations to support and enhance my clinical work. I am a member of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Sciences (ACBS), Sacramento Valley Psychological Association (SVPA), California Psychological Association (CPA), the American Psychological Association (APA), and EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).
In my spare time I enjoy volunteering, spending time with my family and pets, reading fiction, and watching mystery movies.
